Do you have any concerns or opinions on LGBTQ+ related issues in the classroom or AUC in general? This is your time to share. This Focus Group is meant to raise awareness for the student concerns around topics such as pronoun use during classes, registered name use within administration, or discussion of LGBTQ+ sensitive topics, etc. Not only will you share these concerns with other students, but the right people from AUC will also be there to hear you out and make change according to your voices.

This month of February, CUT is collaborating with Diversity Commision, student life officer and others to celebrate LGBTQ+ culture and history worldwide. On this very special day – St. Valentine’s above all! – we are screening “Happy Together” (1997), a film directed by Wong Kar Wai. It follows a couple from Hong Kong who travel to Argentina for a romantic holiday – a holiday that ends up testing their place under the sun and torturous feelings for each other. Filled with eyegasmic cinematography (yup, that’s a word now!), this film explores themes of queerness, migration and loneliness. Join us for this special celebration and, as always, popcorn will be provided!

Our second screening for the LGBTQ+ History Month, in collaboration with Diversity Commision, student life officer and others, is a documentary called “Call Me Kuchu” (2012), directed by Malika Zouhali-Worrall and Katherine Fairfax Wright. The film follows Uganda’s queer community and especially revisits the life of David Kato – an activist who is considered to be the father of the gay rights movement in Uganda. Join us for this special screening that reminds us that celebrating LGBTQ+ community and its history is relevant, political and timely, more now than ever. As always, popcorn will be provided! Do not hesitate to aim for the best possible universities and programs. You have a liberal arts and science degree - most admissions people know what that entails. They will welcome you with open arms.
Check well in advance what your Master's required, email them if necessary. You can build your curriculum based on what you want to do after AUC. Also, European universities tend to be sticklers with rules and courses. In the US universities they care less about the exact courses, so if you have trouble being accepted based on your courses you can always apply overseas.
