Internal Positions

SlayUC

SlayUC is AUCSA’s dance committee. They organise weekly classes, several SlayUC Goes Dancing events, and various workshops of which some are a trajectory of multiple classes. Of course, they are also responsible for creating a dancing team that represents AUC in the annual UCSRN Tournament!

Hands On

Hands On is AUCSA’s philanthropy and voluntary services committee. Our aim is to raise awareness about issues in the world, and use this awareness to make a small change. We do this by offering fun activities, like fundraising events, guest lectures or volunteering opportunities.

Jeugdlab

Open positions:

Jeugdlab is a committee that organizes scientific experiments, cooking workshops, and arts and crafts sessions for children in Jeugdland. The board consists of 3 divisions: Sciencelab, Kooklab, and Leeslab, as well as the Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and PR manager.

 

Being a Sciencelab/Kooklab/Leeslab Coordinator consists of the following tasks:

  • Planning and organizing workshops for children once a week
  • Volunteering in external events (approximately 5 events per year)
  • Making sure the material needed for each workshop is availableAttending our weekly meetings

 

Unfortunately, being able to speak Dutch is required.

AUC Solidarity Fund

British Embassy The Hague

The Department for International Trade (DIT) in the Netherlands, based at the British Embassy in The Hague, helps both UK-based companies succeed in the Netherlands and overseas companies bring their high-quality investment to the UK’s dynamic economy. The British Embassy, based in The Hague in the Netherlands, is part of a world-wide network of 230 Diplomatic Posts, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are currently advertising for two interns to join our trade and investment teams here in the Hague – please find the vacancy here. One intern will mainly support DIT’s Investment Team, while the other will be supporting the Trade Team.

 

In order to be eligible for the position, you need to be available 20 hours a week, speak English fluently and preferably Dutch, be available for 6 months from the 1st of July, and currently be undertaking studies in a higher education institution based in the Netherlands (not necessarily for the entire duration of the internship).

Red Pers

Are you currently an AUC student with either academic or personal interest in journalism, (social) media, communication, entrepreneurship, writing, (digital) marketing and/or public relations? And are you still looking for a fun and flexible, but also a challenging and rewarding internship during the spring semester (February-May) of 2019? Then Red Pers, an online journalistic platform founded by former AUC students, might be just perfect for you!

 

We are still looking for interns in a wide variety of fields and with different responsibilities. Especially in public relations (PR), we have quite some open vacancies at the moment. Note that professional proficiency in Dutch is required for PR-positions (but other positions are available for English speakers as well!).

Commoning UvA

This month the research and action group Commoning UvA starts with Commoning working groups. They consist of students, teachers and citizens who will explore how to set up a common good or a new shared practice (a commons) together in the coming months. Ask for more info or sign up via the online form.

 

The themes are:

  1. Creating new public space in the UvA – a space to host an education and research programme of and for the city
  2. Commons Zine: a magazine for the commons and commoners of Amsterdam
  3. Wij Doen Media: strengthening transparency of local governance with video and social media
  4. Smart Citizens: Research into the relationship between personal & urban data, law and commons

 

These groups are also suitable as a community project or internship, either for the June intensive or for a long semester starting next September. Take up the challenge of commoning and join.

External Events & Trainings

Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA)

The Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA) is organising a Summer Seminar on the European Neighbourhood Policy in Brussels, at the heart of EU politics, from 9-12 July 2019 under the academic lead of Prof. Frank Schimmelfennig. Applications are open to Master students and graduates until Sunday 19 May 2019.

 

By combining expert lectures with visits to key EU institutions, this 4-day seminar will offer 15 young professionals an opportunity to gain first-hand insights from researchers, EU practitioners and civil society representatives on the current state of play and future prospects of the European Neighbourhood Policy.

Model European Union Netherlands
