AUC's Party and Event Committee

1. Comfort in sorrow, misfortune, or distress; consolation.

2. A source of comfort or consolation.

AUC dorm life is great. Your friends are near, there are enough opportunities for common room parties and all of this is only a couple of meters away from your front door! Science Park seems to generate a much more exciting student life than one might think by observing it at first…. BUT the negative side of all of this is that it is tempting, especially with the Dutch weather, to stay indoors and miss out on all the fun, craziness and adventures Amsterdam nightlife has to offer.

Solace is the event and party committee of AUC. We are here to bring comfort in times of distress, and there is no better way to do this than with our monthly events on Tuesdays! We pour our blood, sweat and tears into organizing ‘gezellige borrels’ and smashing parties so that you forget about that tuff Monday and you just chat, laugh and dance the night away. In order to do so, we have two handsome Canadians on board. With the team spirit of ice-hockeyer Connor, he as the chair keeps the board together and focussed. The second is Arthur, who may occasionally lose count of how many beers he has had on an evening, he definitely is the one who counts in our board when it comes to counting numbers, as he is our Treasurer. And speaking of treasures: our lovely third year Susan is our location manager and in charge of finding the most beautiful treasures of Amsterdam, where we can host our borrels and parties. Another unmissable part is that we also need get that beautiful dance floor packed: that’s where PR manager Rosa comes in. Drafting Facebook post after post, spreading posters and tickets, she gets your ass dragged down to our events. For our fifth and (so far) final member, we have Secretary Eman, who helps us keep track of all this and to make sure we don’t get lost during meetings or the tons of incoming e-mails.  Last but not least, Solace needs a 6th pair of hands, we are still looking for an all-rounder first year who wants to join the Solace squad (hint hint, apply apply) to create nights that we will all remember!
