We are AUC’s visual arts committee, The Art Committee (TAC) or just simply Art. We are here to make your life as an AUC student more creative and expressive! We organize exhibitions, workshops and events. You can view our exhibitions at important AUC events and on the second floor in the AB in our permanent exhibition space. Our workshops relate to a diverse range of artistic disciplines, and we offer students materials and a space to work on their art every Wednesday during our Studio Time sessions.
Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit our Facebook page.
Fun workshops are given every now and then to broaden the interest of the Art Committee. In the past we provided workshops varying from knitting, origami and mandala drawing to photoshop and photography, and we hope to continue this throughout the current year. Suggestions for collaborations on specific projects or workshops are welcome. If you have a creative skill that you would like to share, we want you to give a workshop! We will provide you with everything you need to help teach your fellow students to do the things you love to do. Email us at email@example.com with questions, suggestions and ideas.
Artists Anonymous (AA) Studio Time is new to the Art Committee and is held every Wednesday from 20:00 to 22:00. It provides anyone who wants to create art at AUC with a time and space to do it. Some art supplies are provided as well, such as paint, brushes, pencils and paper, but you are welcome to come with your own supplies. This time may be used for individual projects, perhaps in motivations to submit work to TAC exhibitions, or for group projects. The facebook group gives updates on people’s creations and projects.
Interested in photography? Art’s sub committee, AUC:PIC (Photographers in College) will be for you! Monthly meetings will be organized to introduce various themes; you are invited to take photos related to the theme and bring the pictures to the next meeting to discuss them. Workshops about technical stuff and awesome fieldtrips will take place as well. It does not matter whether you use an analogue camera, your phone, or a professional SLR: PIC is for everyone! If you want to stay updated on what’s going on, join the PIC facebook group. PIC also has a blog that serves as an online gallery, displaying students’ work in certain themes. If you have any questions, feedback or suggestions, feel free to contact Julia at firstname.lastname@example.org! AUC:PIC Blog! AUC:PIC on Facebook!
TAC:FILM is the short-film making sub-committee belonging to the Art Committee. If you are interested in writing, acting, directing or any other aspect of film-making, we will help you with realising your ideas, or help you find an existing project that you will feel at home in. Currently in the middle of Make-a-Movie-Month, TAC:FILM will have their first project screening in the first week of December. Starting in the new year there will be new projects and working groups to join and opportunity to start your own project with our help. If you have an idea for a short-film, contact Samuel at email@example.com; or if you want to help one of the projects happening right now or in the future, join our facebook group. The Art Committee has its own exhibition space in the academic building: the corridor on the 2nd floor. We want to improve the atmosphere of the academic building by providing a bit of variability and colour to the otherwise sterile academic environment. We are always looking for new student art to exhibit in the academic building, be it photography, painting, drawing or any other 2D medium you can come up with. Outside the exhibition space, we also organise temporary exhibitions, usually by theme or event. In the past, we have had exhibitions at Dormfest, and this year we will for the first time exhibit during the Winter Formal. If you have work you are proud of, and would like to lend/donate some work to us, we would love to hear from you. Or alternatively, do you know someone who is a great artist, but who is too shy to come forward, drop us a line and we’ll do our best to reveal the hidden talent of AUC! With ideas and questions, please contact Charlotte Knaup or Blijde Ligthart at firstname.lastname@example.org or via Facebook.
